Raxaul in Bihar is a convenient India–Nepal road gateway and connects directly with Birgunj on the Nepal side. It is especially useful for travellers coming from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, eastern Uttar Pradesh and nearby regions who want to enter Nepal by road. After completing the applicable border formalities, travellers can continue from Birgunj towards Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini and other destinations.
