Hardoi is a city in the Lucknow division of Uttar Pradesh, India. Hardoi name is originated from the word Haridrohi which means against God or unbeliever. The name was given by the king Hiranyakashipu who was an atheist. Hardoi district is comprised of five tehsils namely Hardoi, Shahabad, Bilgram, Sandila, and Sawayajpur, 19 blocks, 191 Nyay Panchayat, 1101 Gram Sabha, and 1901 inhabited revenue villages. It is believed that the Naimisha forest near Hardoi is a place where Mahabharat was narrated by Shaunaka. Due to which thousands of pilgrims and nature lovers visit this forest.
Sandi Bird Sanctuary also is known by its ancient name Dahar Jheel is located in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. This Bird Sanctuary was constructed in 1990 to preserve the natural habitats and aquatic vegetation for the local natives and migratory birds. River Garra passes near this sanctuary.

2. Victoria Hall
Victoria Memorial was reconstructed when the Supreme Court was declared in India. Victoria Memorial Building is the signature of Hardoi. Mahatma Gandhi addressed a large public meeting on the vast land lying vacant in this Victoria Building complex in 1929, which was built in Hardoi, where about 4000 people were included. Hardoi Club is currently operating in this building.
3. Prahalad Kund
This place has a mythological story. Hardoi city was ruled by the king Hiranyakashipu who was an atheist, unbeliever of God. His son was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. To punish his son, he calls her sister Holika, she has received a boon of not being consumed in the fire. Holika took her nephew and entered the fire which is called Prahalad kund. But he was blessed by Lord Vishnu. Instead of Prahalad, Holika was burned into ashes. It is said that the pool in which the Holika was burnt, is still situated in Hardoi on the place called Shravanevi. It is believed that Holi is played by blowing up the modern Holikdahan and after that Abir-Gulul is a symbol of memory of this mythical incident.
